The professional

Philip has always been intrigued by the role the customer plays in the business lifecycle. This compassion for the user lead Philip on an whirlwind tour via international business, information management, online marketing and search engine optimisation to a place called Optimal Usability where he has found a passion in User Centred Design. What Philip loves about his work at Optimal is helping his clients solve their head scratching problems - getting stuck in and looking at the challenges from the perspective of the most important person; the user.

Since joining Optimal Usability in late 2008 Philip has been involved in a diverse range of projects, including IA creation, conceptual wireframing, heuristic reviews, focus groups, plenty of user tests and persona development. Some of Philip’s favourite clients include Snapper, ACC, Kiwibank, Vodafone, Telecom, New Zealand Post, Metservice, Aim Proximity, Department of Conservation, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Foundation for Research Science and Technology, Fairfax Digital, Inland Revenue, Greater Wellington and Sorted.org.nz.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Commerce and Administration, Post Graduate papers in Information Management

The person

On a sunny weekend you’ll find Phil at the football field or on the basketball court, up the mountain or down at the depths of the ocean collecting Paua. If it’s not so nice out then he’ll be locked away in his room strumming a guitar or tweaking dials on a home recording system. Philip loves to travel, two previous lives abroad means he dabbles in Chinese and Italian, and there are plans in the wings for South American adventures in late 2010.
