The professional
Shailesh has a diverse background that now allows him to offer a wide range of skills. With an educational background in physics, Shailesh began his career as a physicist at the world leading technology company Rakon. Four years of working in this environment refined his analytical skills and ability to think laterally in a pressured environment.
Following this, Shailesh has spent three and a half years working for Xtra Ltd and then Telecom. These years involved Product Management, delivery of complex online products, redevelopment of xtra.co.nz and he finished with a focus on long-term strategy for Telecom's Online entities.
Shailesh's experience has shown him the positive difference made when users are put at the heart of any design. He has come to Optimal Usability with a desire to utilise his experience and skills in helping clients put users at the heart of their business.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Technology (with first class honours)
The person
Shailesh loves the outdoors, hanging out with friends, food and wine. Ideally he likes to try and combine all of these into weekends. He makes a wicked lamb curry which goes well with most cabernet merlots although the chilli rating can be variable.
Shailesh has recently taken to attempting DIY projects (using the internet as his guide) and had relatively good success to date. As he and his wife Janine are expecting their first child, he is going to continue to tempt fate and start some more house projects.
